On Developing Purity of Intellect.
****

“... to obtain full benefit from religion and true Guru, it is very essential to have pure intellect.... How to acquire the purity of intellect? The person who wants to have purity of intellect has essentially to keep his eyes and ears open. He should listen to everything and ponder over it, and after thoroughly considering the pros and cons, adopt those that are essential and useful, and give up the nonessential and useless ones. He should act only after careful consideration and listen attentively to whatever is said. Thus, if effort is made to bear in mind the above instructions and one tries to develop purity of intellect, there is no reason to doubt the success. Even if one gets true Satsang, he would derive no benefit without developing a pure and chaste intellect....”

Life is An Action Medium. {109.}

****
Radhasoami!

Life is a medium of action.

One defines oneself by one’s actions.
It is only by acting that one can
live and experience life.

Speaking is a potent activity,
and practically indispensable among humans.

However, even thought represents activity;
thoughts are also actions of another genre.

One’s prayers constitute noble actions.

Meditation, sitting alone with one’s eyes closed,
signifies vibrant action on a lofty plane.

Hence, don’t confuse merely
physical activity with actions.

Life is a platform requiring activity,
but one is free to choose
the sundry planes and modes
one wishes to perform one’s actions in
for corresponding effects and results.

Foregoing the worldly reality may
open oneself to divine glories.

Don’t let your actions
get committed by default,
nor grant others the right
to act on your behalf.

Unto you your actions and fate,
and unto me my valued desserts.

Earnest Prayer to Radhasoami Dayal. {108.}

****
Radhasoami!

The Radhasoami religion teaches one
how to attain eternal bliss.

Satsangis ought to be shielded from sorrows,
and habitually bask in happiness.

Besides, I like good news,
even of others,
especially about Satsangis.

So, may Radhasoami Dayal Mercifully Accept
the following humble and sincere prayer
at His Lotus Feet from me:

Please Grant that I receive
only good news,
and preferably, very good news,
and even better good news,
about those who’re Your Own,
Your Chosen, Loved, and Beloved.

Let my living be interspersed with
such recurring, joyous, heartening good news.

Let the loneliness and barrenness
of my life be brightened,
with such soothing and satisfying good news.

Let this joy now become
my constant companion
until I achieve the eternal bliss
of final fusion in Your Being.

Praying for Instant Salvation, Lord. {107.}

****
Radhasoami!

The following Paath {or hymn} lines,
from the holy Sar Bachan {Nazm}
Mercifully Penned by our August Founder,
have always meant immensely to me:

Ab tho man kar chuka pukaar /
Radhasoami, Karo udhhaar
.”

That is,
“The heart has now cried out,
Radhasoami, Redeem me.”

I find the use of the word
ab’ {or ‘now’} to be especially significant.

It appears to hide within it
untold striving, agonies, realizations.

So that finally, the heart
beseeches the Lord for salvation.

Well, much as this might seem
to be denying or escaping life,
that’s what the essence and import
of Radhasoami religion is all about.

This perishable world is to be quit,
life is to come to an end,
and the soul is to merrily
retrace its path to its
original, blissful and eternal Paradise.

Perspective on Sin & Virtue.
****

“... Magar kisi kaam ka sinful {paaproop} ya virtuous {punyaroop} hona Khuda ke sambandh mein samajhna chahiye. Jis baath se Khuda Khush ho, wah punyaroop hai aur jisse Wah Nakhush ho, paaproop hai.... Satsangiyon ko yeh privilege {visheshadhikaar} hai ki Sant Satguru se dariyafth kar sakte hain ki Kul Maalik ko kya pasand ya napasand hai. Iske muthabik karawayi karni chahiye. Sar Bachan mein Kaha hua hai:
“Guru Aagya se jo shish karayi, so karthuth bhakti phal deyi.”
Paanch baathen karne ke liye Hidayath hai:
{1} Sumiran, {2} Dhyan, {3} Bhajan, {4} Seva, {5} Satsang.
Darasal yeh paanchon baathen ek hee cheez hain..
..”

---- Param Guru Huzur Saheb Ji Maharaj; Bachan Bhag I, Bachan No. 147, Page 404.
****

Its simple translation into English may be rendered as follows:

“... But we should construe an act as being sinful or virtuous in the context of God. If something pleases God, it is virtuous and what displeases Him, is a sin.... Satsangis have the privilege of being able to enquire from the Grand Master regarding what the Supreme Lord Likes and Dislikes. One should act by this. It says in the {holy} Sar Bachan:
“Whatever the disciple does with the Guru’s Permission, that deed gives one spiritual fruition.”
Five performances have been decreed:
{1} Sumiran, {2} Contemplation, {3} Meditation, {4} Seva, {5} Satsang.
Actually, all these five things are the same....”

Keep Devotion to Lord Growing.
****

Din bhar mein kam se kam dho ghante Maalik ki bandagi aur bhajan sumiran wageirah mein sarf karey aur jab jab mauka mile, waqt badhate jaana chahiye aur jab jab Sant Satguru ka sang mile, cheth kar karna chahiye.”

---- Param Guru Huzur Maharaj Ji; Prashnottar, Guru Updesh, No. 42, Page 38.
****

Its simple translation into English may be rendered as follows:

“During the course of the entire day, one should spend at least two hours in devotion to the Lord, in meditation, chanting the Name, etc. and whenever the opportunity presents itself, one should gradually increase this timespan, and whenever one gets the Company of the Satguru, one should partake of it with great earnestness.”

Remain Satisfied with Master’s Grace.
****

Jo kuchh kaam karey, uske phal ko Satguru ki Mauj par chod dena chahiye aur jis tarah Waha Rakhen, usi mein khush rahey aur shikayath na karey. Is tarah bhee nishkarma ho sakta hai.”

---- Param Guru Huzur Maharaj Ji; Prashnottar, Guru Updesh, No. 32, Page 36.

Its simple translation into English may be rendered as follows:

“Whatever work one does, one should leave its fruits to the Master’s Will and whichever way He Keeps one, one ought to remain happy with it and not complain. In this manner also can one become free of deeds.”

Transcend Death while Yet Alive.
****

“... Jeethe ji marna chahiye, yani surat ko netron ke sthan se hata kar Maalik Sachhe ke Charnon mein lagana aur Nij Desh mein pahunchna chahiye.”

---- Param Guru Huzur Maharaj Ji; Prashnottar, Guru Updesh, No. 41, Page 37.

Its simple translation into English may be rendered as follows:

“... One should die while one is yet alive, that is, the soul should be removed from its seat near the eyes and attached to the Lord’s Lotus Feet and be made to reach the True Abode.”

Radhasoami Religion is about Death. {106.}

****
Radhasoami!

This world is not real.

Life is brief, and merely
an opportunity to attain salvation.

The meaning and purpose of life
stem from but its eventual cessation.

This may sound strange,
but is nevertheless true.

It is the deserving soul
that early, clearly and seriously
dedicates itself to achieving redemption.

Meditation in the prescribed manner,
helped by the Guru’s Grace,
can enable any sincere devotee
to experience death during meditation,
to transcend and master death.

Death naturally loses its sting
for such a blessed devotee.

One realizes what reality is,
and knows that one has
attained a paradise that’s
glorious, blissful and eternal.
